Top Crew, Top Job

After a big trip and a job well done, I would like to pass on a special thanks to my offsiders for this survey.  I do a lot of my mapping surveys on my own, but when I take on big and sometimes potentially dangerous ones, I take another person and second vehicle.  My crew for this survey was made up of my young fella Jordan Lawson, old friend Snags from Broken Hill and my trusty mate Tony Lowe.
I would like to use this opportunity to make special mention and thank you to Tony.  Tony flies under the radar and is a bit of a quiet achiever, so not too many people know him that well, or what he does for us all behind the scenes.  He has been helping and supporting me for quite a few years now and has been a very patient and supportive asset to Michelle and I, our rallies and my crazy ideas.  Any big and outlandish ideas, I will usually drive Michelle mad with over a few months, then quite often Tony is the first outsider to bounce it off. It is usually met with, “your a f___in idiot”.  I then go back to the drawing board and have another go. The reply is often the same with an added “don’t be stupid, you can’t do that”.  When I get a wave of the hand and Tony walking away shaking his head in silence, I know I must be getting close and onto something.
Either that, or he has given up all hope and knows to just roll his swag, because nothing is going to change my mind and we are going anyhow.
I love taking on big challenges that most would walk away from and over the years, have successfully done things that most say are impossible and can’t be done.  It is only through help, support and experience of people like Tony that allow me the confidence to take it on.  Michelle and I are very fortunate to have an amazing support network and team, and together, we can take on what most only dream of. Thank you everyone for your continued support, faith and trust in what we do. - Jamie.

After covering 4 States, 13 days and 7583km on the road/track, we are home safe with a job well done. No flat tyres, no broken gear and everyone and everything still strong and healthy. A mixture of good gear, good preparation and dare I say.....good operators? Very pleased with what we found and put together. That was the easy bit, now the work starts. Stay tuned, this is going to be something special. - Jamie

ROAD NOISE: Made it to the end of the line, Kalgoorlie.  The primary purpose for this survey was to map from Broken to Kalgoorlie, via Coober Pedy, Ilkulka and Neale Junction as it forms the guts of the rally and was the large portion of the unknown.  I had to see if it was doable and if so, give me enough knowledge and information to begin working out all the logistics, problem solving and what resources and gear I will need to pull it off safely.  I came, I looked, I learnt and most of all, I loved it.  Senbloodysational! It was everything I thought it would be, wanted it to be and a whole lot more.  It is certainly going to be an incredible, once in a lifetime journey across Australia. A real overland desert adventure.  I am looking forward to piecing all the details and information together for those that are wanting too, or contemplating entering this event.  We are taking expression of interest now (on the web site) and entry applications will be available in June this year.  Yep, this is no ordinary event, so people will need to apply and be accepted to go.  For those of you who have participated in one of my previous "Super" rallies and may be wondering how this one will compare, it won't.  All of my events are unique, individual and no two the same.  This will most certainly rate up there with or better than anything I have previously done. Pack your bags boys n girls, "She's On"!

ROAD NOISE:  I love it when a plan comes together.  Found everything I was looking for, and much much more.  I don't know how to put it into words and I'm like a kid with a mouth full of lollies trying to speak.....just to damn excited.  Shame the rally is still a year and a half away, I want to bring you back next week.
The course we have mapped is incredible and anyone taking on the adventure will be well rewarded and will remember this for the rest of your life.  It's tough, my word it is, but worth all the shaking, rattling, digging, fixing........... Wide open salt bush plains, stoney tree lined creeks, rugged Mountain ranges, sand dunes, clay pans and salt flats.   That's in the two days we have mapped from Broken Hill to Coober Pedy.  It is also the easy bit, the tough stuff is yet to come and only the warm up to the real adventure.
We are in Coober Pedy now, preparing and restocking for the next leg.  Now it gets tough and we will drop off the radar for the next 4-6 days.  I look forward (I think?) to letting you know how we go, what we find and see if the too hard, is possibly doable.  If I find what I'm looking for, it will trigger off a massive work load of problem solving, logistical challenges and plenty of brain storming sleepless nights.    Gulp, here it goes.............
PS: I would like to dedicate this adventure to our mate Jim Pilgram who passed away this morning.  RIP big Jimbo & thanks for the laughs, memories and help with your amazing voice over many years.  You were not one in a million, you were the one and the only.  "The Voice".

Here is a bit more "Road Noise" for you;  Couple of easy days to Broken Hill.  Now it's time to collect our final crew member "Snags", turn the tripmeters on, get the maps out, sharpen the trusty pencil and begin mapping the 2016 Road Boss Rally - 'Super Addition'.  From here, we go bush and begin building the adventure. I have a rough plan and if it comes together, will be an amazing overland expedition through to Coober Pedy.  Going onto a station tomorrow that I have been wanting use for many years but could never get the gate unlocked. He was one tough nut to crack.  Through a lot of hard work, good contacts and patience, it looks like it's going to come off and get the go ahead.  This is country I have always wanted to see and use, but had almost given up on.  Lucky I'm........ I think tenacious is the word someone once used.  We will give another update on progress from Coober Pedy in a few days.  Thanks for your interest everyone and we look forward to showing you what we find and piece together as it unfolds. - Jamie

Today we hit the road for the first ever course survey, for the first ever Road Boss Rally.  Hard to take in that just a few short weeks ago, all we had was a blank canvas and a few ideas rattling around.  A lot has developed in a very short space of time, that's for sure.  Heading off this morning was a little like turning the first sod and represents the beginning, of something that through hard work, passion and determination, will hopefully grow onto to benefit, enhance and touch many people's lives.
So with a little apprehension, a fair bit of excitement, a lot of unknown certainty and may I say, shit'n a few bricks, we leave Toowoomba, bound for Broken Hill, Coober Pedy, Neale Junction, Laverton then Kalgoorlie.  Will keep you informed as our trip unfolds and we put a few more pieces of the puzzle together.  - Jamie.

Easter has been spent preparing, fabricating, packing and getting ready for one of the longest and remotest course surveys I have probably ever taken on. Leaving here on Tuesday morning and going out to explore something to see if it can be done. Yep, I reckon we have bitten off more than we can chew. So better start chewin I guess! 14 days and 8000ish km's, we should be back. Will keep you posted. "Standby". - Jamie
