Day One Run and Won,
Everyone’s a winner from the RBR and today we kicked more big goals as we finally got to get our show on the road. Last night’s G'day G'day welcome function went off with a bang with a room full of very energetic and enthusiastic rally entrants uniting and reuniting with both new and old friends.
Our day got off to a crisp, cool and exciting start from the new Brisbane West Wellcamp airport and it wasn’t long before the cars were slipping and sliding and beginning to recolour their machines with fun coloured mud.  Just 200 metres from the start line the rally track went bush and followed some roads and tracks around the airport precinct. The rest of the day was spent wondering around the Darling Downs on back shire roads, country lane ways, forestry tracks and a few hours of challenging fun on a number of properties between Tara, Moonie and further on to Westmar.
All in all it was a perfect start to a perfect event and a great shake down and indication of how much fun you can have on the RBR.  Sandy tracks, rocky gullies, muddy bog holes, busted wire gates and all through country that is right here in our back yard.  We are very privileged to be able to access and travel through so many private properties and it is on these legs that we all get to see and enjoy so many hidden treasures.
Apart from raising a lot of money for GIVIT and having lots of fun along the way, another key focus is spreading the word of GIVIT into and through the areas and communities that we travel through. The RBR has generated an enormous amount of public and media interest and we have gained some invaluable exposure for our event and GIVIT.
Day one score, RBR 1 up and on top!  Everyone is now in Westmar setting up camp and getting ready for a great night.  It is sure to be a fun night around the camp fires and listening to our rally resident one man band “Owie” belt out a long list of Aussie Rock n Roll anthems. Today was “this is Australia” day and everyone is in theme and ready to make the most of their first night out on the Road Boss Road.

Car, characters, cold weather and a very warm welcome got us under way for the 2016 Road Boss Rally.  The Garden City of Toowoomba sure put on a great show of wet and windy weather but it certainly didn't dampen the fun and excitement as everyone rolled through gearing themselves for the next week on the road.  Cars and crews from Cairns, Sydney, Mackay, Townsville and many other Australian states, cities and communities all migrated to Toowoomba for registration and check in.  Everyone is now present and accounted for and preparing for a great night ahead.  Tonight we all gather for the grand opening ceremony and officially welcome in the 2016 Road Boss Rally. Our special guardian lamp will be lit, everyone will be upstanding to recite our traditional "Creed" and starting positions will be auctioned off.  Plenty of fun, antics and entertainment will open up the show and set the scene for the next five days through to Port Macquarie.  Today also saw our overall fundraising total reach above $150 000!  This figure is set to soar as we still have quite a few fundraising dollars yet to make its way into the count and of course, all our entertaining charity auctions during the rally.  Saddle up everybody and let the GAMES BEGIN, tomorrow we hit the road!

Updates will begin on Sunday 5th June and will continue right through to the finish line in Perth three weeks later on the 25th.  The Road Boss Rally and in particular the Super travels into some very remote parts of the country where mobile service can be unreliable and sporadic at times, or none at all.  While we will endeavour to do an update each day, there may be a few black holes where we may not have access to the internet.

Today we hit the road for the first ever course survey, for the first ever Road Boss Rally.  Hard to take in that just a few short weeks ago, all we had was a blank canvas and a few ideas rattling around.  A lot has developed in a very short space of time, that's for sure.  Heading off this morning was a little like turning the first sod and represents the beginning, of something that through hard work, passion and determination, will hopefully grow onto to benefit, enhance and touch many people's lives.
So with a little apprehension, a fair bit of excitement, a lot of unknown certainty and may I say, shit'n a few bricks, we leave Toowoomba, bound for Broken Hill, Coober Pedy, Neale Junction, Laverton then Kalgoorlie.  Will keep you informed as our trip unfolds and we put a few more pieces of the puzzle together.  - Jamie.
